FAQ

Do I need an account to use Tally?
No. There's no sign-up at all. Open the app and start logging — everything is tied to your device, not an account.
How do I move data to a new iPhone?
Two options: restore your new device from an encrypted backup of the old one (Tally's data comes along automatically), or use Settings → Export on the old device and Settings → Import on the new one.
Can I change the currency symbol?
Yes — open Settings → Currency and pick ¥ or $. It changes the symbol shown only; amounts are kept in CNY and no conversion is applied.
Is Tally free?
Check the current price on the App Store listing. Whatever the model, there are no ads and no tracking — see the privacy policy.

Troubleshooting

The widget isn't updating. iOS refreshes widgets on its own schedule to save battery, so totals can lag a little. Open Tally once to force a refresh; if it persists, remove and re-add the widget from the Home Screen.

A recurring transaction didn't post. Recurring entries are created when the app next opens on or after the due date. Open Tally and check Settings → Recurring to confirm the rule is active and the date and amount are correct.

An import didn't work. Make sure the file matches Tally's export format. The most reliable approach is to export a small sample from Tally first, then match that file's columns before importing your own data.

My data is missing after a new install. Deleting the app removes its on-device data. If you reinstalled without restoring from a backup or importing a file, there's no copy on a server to recover — which is also why exporting periodically is a good habit. Restore from a device backup if you have one.

Notifications aren't arriving. Confirm reminders are enabled in Tally, then check iOS Settings → Notifications → Tally to make sure they're allowed.
